Who we are

Confide is an AI mentoring service for teens, operated by Polsia. We're built on a simple belief: teens deserve a private, safe space to ask the questions they can't ask anywhere else. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

What information we collect

We collect only what we need to make Confide work:

• Account information — your email address and an encrypted password when you create an account. A nickname if you choose to set one.
• Age confirmation — we ask you to confirm you're 13 or older. We store that confirmation but not your specific date of birth.
• Conversations — the messages you send to Confide and the responses it gives. These are stored so you can access your conversation history and so the AI can maintain context within a session.
• Usage data — basic information like when you logged in or started a conversation. We use this to understand how the service is working and to improve it.
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and improve the Confide service
• Keep your conversation history accessible across devices
• Detect and respond to crisis signals in conversations (see Crisis Detection below)
• Process subscription payments via Stripe
• Send essential account communications (password resets, billing notices)

We do not use your conversations to serve ads. We do not build marketing profiles. We do not share your data with third-party advertisers — full stop.

Crisis detection disclosure

Confide includes a built-in crisis detection system. When your messages contain signals of distress, self-harm, or imminent danger, Confide will respond with safety resources (988 Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, Trevor Project) and — in cases of serious risk — encourage you to contact emergency services.

This system operates entirely within the Confide conversation. We do not automatically notify parents, schools, or authorities based on what you say. Confide is not a mandatory reporter. Our goal is to connect you with help, not to surveil you.

In the extremely rare circumstance where we reasonably believe there is an imminent, specific threat to life, we may be required by law to take action. But our design intention is always to connect, not to report.

How we protect your data

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot see your password, ever.
• Conversations are stored in a secured database with restricted access.
• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
• We regularly review our security practices.

Data retention

We keep your account and conversation data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and request deletion, we'll delete your conversations within 30 days and your account data within 90 days.

Some data may be retained longer if required by law or to resolve disputes.

COPPA and users under 13

Confide requires users to confirm they are 13 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and data promptly.

For users aged 13–17, we encourage parents to be aware their teen is using Confide. While conversations are private by design, parents can contact us at confide@polsia.app with questions about how we handle minor users' data.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Stripe — for payment processing
• OpenAI / AI providers — to generate responses to your messages. Your conversations may be processed by these providers in accordance with their privacy policies. We do not allow them to use your conversations to train their models.
• Service providers — hosting and infrastructure services necessary to run the app, all under data processing agreements
• Law enforcement — only when required by valid legal process

Your rights

You can:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and conversations
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Export your conversation history (contact us to request)

Changes to this policy

We'll notify users of material changes to this Privacy Policy via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Confide after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
